B.O.B.’s billboard/radio singles “Nothing On You” and “Airplanes” were originally meant for Lupe Fiasco. Although this track is not his best work, Lupe’s flow is far superior to B.O.B.’s. Song link from Hypetrak, picture of the two from Lupe’s blog.

Hall of Fame Career: Rickey Henderson

Rickey Henderson was born in Chicago on Christmas Day, 1958, and moved with his family to Oakland, CA at age 7. At Oakland Technical High School, he played baseball, basketball, and was an All American running back in football. He graduated Oakland Tech in 1976 and was the fourth round draft pick of the Oakland A’s that same year. He made his major league debut with Oakland in June of 1979, and by 1980 he became the 3rd person ever to steal at least 100 bases in a season.
Rickey went on to lead the league in steals for the next 7 seasons, setting the single season record in 1982 with 130, and broke 100 again in 1983 with 108. He missed 67 games in 1987 and lost the stolen base crown that year to Harold Reynolds who finished with 60.
“Hello?”
“Reynolds! This is Rickey.”
“Oh, hey Rick.”
“60 steals, huh?”
“Yeah, I can’t believe it. It was amazing.”
“60?! Rickey had 60 at the All-Star Break!”

UFC 100 Fight Night Lesnar vs Mir
In the highly anticipated heavyweight rematch, Brock Lesnar seeks revenge vs Frank Mir on Saturday in UFC 100. It’s a classic battle of Mir’s experience and technique vs Lesnar’s strength and size; as well as a measure of how far Lesnar has come since his first round submission defeat to Lesnar at UFC 81. The other headlining bout on the card is the welterweight match up of George St. Pierre defending his belt vs Thiago Alves for division superiority.
” I believe his win over me was pure luck. He was getting his ass beat” -Lesnar
“The one thing I’ve always said is that technique outweights power,” Mir said. “But you need a lot of technique… Wherever the fight goes, I’m ready”

Battle of the Bay Anniversary Series

This weekend marks the start of interleague rival play for the A’s and Giants. With both teams built around pitching and neither currently challenging their respective divisions, it will be a good measuring stick to see who will hold future bragging rights. The Giants play host first this year at Pac Bell and since interleague started in 1997, they have a 30-38 record vs their rival across the bay. Two exciting young pitchers, Tim Lincecum and Vin Mazzaro, look to start things off Friday.

“I baptized him”
In 2006, Kobe visited then top draft pick Dwight Howard for a visit in Orlando. I don’t think your supposed to do that to the host.

Randy Johnson looks for career victory mark

“The one thing that keeps me going is [that] I’m never content with anything… If I was to retire today, I’d like to think this was my best year. But I’d like to think [that] with hard work and determination, I could get better in certain categories.” -Randy Johnson
The Giants take on Kenshin Kawakami and the Atlanta Braves tonight looking for their first series sweep of the Braves since 2003. But the bigger story both literally and figuratively is Randy Johnson, going for win number 299. The 6′10″ giant of the Giants is closing in on a historical 300 win career mark. Only 23 men are members of this club and the 45 year old Johnson hopes to join Tom Glavine as the only active members. Chronic back injuries left the chances for the Walnut Creek born pitcher to reach the success in doubt, but today he stands with the achievement in reach. After his matchup with the Braves today, Johnson is scheduled to pitch against the Nationals in Washington and against the Diamondbacks in a return to Arizona.
